The Sydney Mobile Vertigo Clinic's vision is to provide high quality vestibular management to patients in the comfort of their own home using advanced technology.
This vision was developed by Neil Blezy as he observed the various barriers that patients experienced while seeking treatment for their vestibular conditions, which resulted in suboptimal outcomes:
To solve these issues and serve his community, Neil established the Sydney Mobile Vertigo Clinic to enable him to travel to patients' homes where he can provide them with evidence based vestibular management using modern equipment.
Neil was born on the cold prairies of Western Canada in Edmonton, Alberta. He grew up playing ice hockey and snowboarding in the winter, and playing soccer and skateboarding in the summers. From a young age he always had a keen interest in science, history, philosophy, and the natural world. He loved exploring Canada's incredible wilderness by visiting the Rocky Mountains and fishing with his family. Neil loves to travel and has been to every continent except Antarctica!
Today he calls Sydney home and enjoys spending time with his partner doing word puzzles supervised by their cat Sookie, hiking in nature, and staying active. He is passionate about healthcare ethics, evidence based healthcare, vestibular physiotherapy, and current events.
Neil's university education began with a year of studying Conservation Biology followed by two years of general studies. In 2010 he completed a Bachelors of Arts with Honors in Philosophy at the University of Edmonton, Alberta.
After completing his philosophy degree, Neil embraced his interest in science and human biology by completing a Bachelors of Kinsesiology in Exercise Physiology at the University of Calgary, Alberta in 2013. Neil became deeply interested in health, fitness, and rehabilitation during this degree leading him to apply for Physiotherapy programs overseas.
Neil arrived in Australia in 2013 to study a Masters of Physiotherapy in Canberra which was completed in 2015.
Neil has experience working in general private physiotherapy practice since 2016, however Neil found a passion for vestibular physiotherapy shortly after he took an introductory vestibular course in 2017. As Neil started to manage vestibular patients he witnessed how severely debilitating vestibular conditions can be for patients who are unable to drive, work, socialise, stay active, and enjoy their hobbies. Neil's professional interest was hooked after he had the exceptional experience of treating a severely symptomatic BPPV patient in a single treatment. This rewarding experience motivated him to move his career in a direction that allowed him to best help vestibular patients.
Illawarra Vertigo Clinic has ceased offering services in the Illawarra but has relaunched to serve the Greater Sydney Area as the Sydney Mobile Vertigo Clinic.
